OCTOPUS EYE
•
Cephalopods have excellent senses and their vision is well developed.
•
Their eyes are similar to human, whales or fishes. All cephalopods (with the exception of the externally shelled and primitive nautilus) can perceive focused images, just like we can!
•
And while humans have one focal point, cephalopods have many. The advantage of many focal points allows them to see movement very well and that’s a great advantage when you live in the deep sea where others creatures don’t have such sharp vision.
•
Another surprising fact is that their sense of vision is connected to their skin, so they can play camouflage. Cephalopods can see polarized light, adapt this light to their skin and change their skin to the colours of their environment.
